Thunderstorms developed explosively over the Kansas City metro area during the late morning hours. Storms continued to back-build and dump heavy rain on the area into early afternoon. Kansas City International received 1.85 inches of rain between 10 am and 1 pm, and a total of 2.04 inches for the day.
