Thunderstorms developed explosively over the Kansas City metro area during the late morning hours. Storms continued to back-build and dump heavy rain on the area into early afternoon. Kansas City International received 1.85 inches of rain between 10 am and 1 pm, and a total of 2.04 inches for the day. Gladstone reported 3.76 inches of rain for the day, and 2.19 inches of rainfall was reported in Blue Springs. Many roads in and around Kansas City had to be closed for several hours due to hig
