Flash Flood — Roanoke, VA

A slow-moving upper low and associated weak cold front pushed across the mountains during the day and produced some heavy downpours and isolated flash flooding. There were some impressive rainfall reports including a date record for June 2 at Roanoke ASOS (ROA) of 3.11 inches, easily breaking the date record of 2.11 inches set in 1959. This ranked as the 6th wettest June day in the climate records for Roanoke, dating back to 1912. The IFLOWS gage at New Castle (NECV2) in Craig County measured 3.
