In what was described by local residents as the worst flooding in 14 years, severe thunderstorms pounded Needles with damaging winds and torrential rain. Rainfall estimates between 2 and 3 inches in less than one hour inundated and damaged part of Highway 95 and made many local roads impassable. The strong wind gusts destroyed some car ports and downed numerous trees and power lines, further blocking traffic. No injuries were reported.
