Large swells from Hurricane Dennis, which at the time was located off the North Carolina coast, swamped six small boats, mainly at Boca Raton and Hillsboro Inlets. One person was washed overboard and drowned. The swells also caused mostly minor beach erosion along the Palm Beach and Broward county shorelines.
