The outer rainbands of hurricane Floyd moved parallel to the east coast of Florida and produced tropical storm force wind gusts primarily across interior counties within West Central Florida. A maximum wind gust of 58 mph was reported at Lakeland Linder Airport around 1700 EST on the 14th.Tropical storm force wind gusts uprooted a few large trees and downed power lines in and around Lakeland in Polk County.
