The center of Hurricane Floyd passed about 115 statute miles off the coast of east central Florida on September 15th. The areas hardest hit were coastal sections of Brevard and Volusia counties. Both counties experienced widespread wind gusts to near 70 mph. Initial damage estimates in Volusia County were near $42 Million. About ten million of that was due to beach erosion.
