An intense storm moved from the eastern Gulf of Mexico across Western New York during the afternoon and evening hours focusing on the lower Cattaraugus Creek and Buffalo metro area. Record rainfall occurred at the Buffalo Airport with some areas receiving over three inches of rain in a few short hours. The flooding caused the evacuation of hundreds in Niagara County.
