A line of thunderstorms with very heavy rain moved across southeast Minnesota during the early morning of June 22nd. In the Austin (Mower County) area, over three inches of rain fell in about three hours. This rain overwhelmed the drainage systems in the city causing considerable urban flooding to occur. Interstate 90 was closed as parts of it became completely submerged in water and U.S. Highway 218 on the east side of the city also had water on it.
