An upper level high centered over far southeast New Mexico on the 2nd allowed the monsoon moisture plume to focus over much of the state. The subsequent afternoon and evening thunderstorms were slow-moving and, at times, strong to severe, producing areas of heavy rain, hail, and strong winds.
