A backdoor cold front pushed through the eastern plains during the afternoon and evening of the 10th, enhancing thunderstorm development along and east of the central mountains. Storms coalesced around east central New Mexico and continued moving slowly to the east, dropping heavy rain and occasional hail. The largest hail reported was quarter size near Logan, an area that also received 5.05 inches of rain throughout the event. The heavy rains produced flash flooding along U.S. Highway 54 bet
