Clusters of thunderstorms developed along a nearly stationary frontal boundary extending along the I-70 corridor during the late evening of June 25th. Many of the storms produced high rainfall rates, depositing between 2 and 5 inches of rain in a short amount of time. This heavy rain, falling on already saturated soils, led to flash flooding across portions of Effingham, Jasper, and Crawford counties.
