Thunderstorms developed across northwestern Riverside county, including Joshua Tree National Park, during the early afternoon hours on August 26th. Some of the stronger storms had the potential to produce winds in excess of 60 mph and initially, Severe Thunderstorm Warnings were issued for the park. Shortly thereafter the storms dropped very heavy rainfall which especially impacted the northern portions of the park. Two flash floods were reported within a short time, one of which produced debris
