During the late morning and into the afternoon a series of slow moving thunderstorms moved across Southwest Nebraska. Large hail up to quarter size was reported southeast of McCook and Northwest of Herndon, KS. The prolonged rainfall northeast of Trenton along Highway 34 south to the Republican river drained through a culvert east of Trenton, washing out the culvert under North River Drive just east of Trenton. The same series of storms moved east producing rapid, heavy rainfall over McCook.
