A slow moving cold front along with a moderately strong upper-level low combined to produce severe thunderstorms with numerous reports of damaging thunderstorm winds across North and Central Georgia during the afternoon and evening. Tropical moisture combined with the slow moving thunderstorms to produce heavy rain over portions of west central Georgia in the evening. Around 3 inches of rain occurred in an hour to cause isolated flash flooding in the Columbus area.
