Low pressure along the central California coastline coupled with high pressure located over the Texas and Oklahoma panhandles created southwesterly flow over southern Arizona and scattered thunderstorms over Graham, Pinal and Pima Counties. Favorable jet dynamics helped thunderstorms become strong enough to produce gusty winds and areas of flash flooding, mainly in the Tucson Metro area.
