A weak but persistent upper-level trough over the eastern U.S. and ample tropical moisture combined to produce multiple rounds of precipitation over Central Georgia the evening of the 21st through the afternoon of the 22nd. A period of heavy rain during the early morning hours produced flash flooding in the city of Americus.
