A slow moving upper level low and associated surface low caused several days of heavy rains along the Gulf Coast. Ahead of this system, a large amounts of gulf moisture was pumped into the region. This lead to flash flooding and also some severe thunderstorms. Rainfall amounts of 5 to 10 inches were common in many locations.
