Showers and embedded thunderstorms developed during the early morning hours of October 31st over North Central Louisiana, well ahead of a slow moving upper level disturbance over West Texas, and north of a warm front that had lifted into Central Louisiana. These showers and embedded thunderstorms persisted through much of the afternoon, with heavy rainfall at times falling over already saturated grounds from heavy rains that fell for a 3-4 day period ending only 4 days prior.
