Significant rainfall occurred overnight up to 12Z (8 AM) on October 1st across parts of northwest North Carolina with 1 to 2 inches falling in Watauga and Wilkes counties. The Dan River in North Carolina (parts of Stokes, Rockingham and Caswell counties) was already past crest on the 1st from the late September rains and stages along the river fell back close to or just below flood stage through the day.
