Daytime heating and adequate atmospheric instability lead to the development of afternoon showers and thunderstorms. Hail up to golfball size fell throughout portions of the Permian Basin. In addition, weak mid and upper level wind fields resulted in slow storm movements, along with heavy rains and flooding in Ector County.
