A deep trough developed just off the West Coast on the 2nd and swung through California on the 3rd and 4th, bringing cold, unstable air to southern California with thunderstorms and record rainfall for San Diego. Lindbergh Field recorded a one-day total of 1.09 inches on the 3rd, setting a daily rainfall record.
