Intense heating and topography combined with outflow boundaries from prior storms aided in providing a focus for thunderstorms. Strong wind shear and high instability helped generate severe thunderstorms that produced large hail and strong winds. An advancing cold front and low level jet during the evening hours continued the thunderstorm threat. The heavy rains from these storms produced flash flooding.
