In a weak ambient flow, small showers and thunderstorms trained west to east after 0000E across McDowell County. The heaviest rain occurred from near Panther on east to Davy and Welch. ||The river gauge near Welch measured 2.8 inches of rain in about 2 hours. Another nearby automatic rain gauge measured 2.26 inches of rain in about 90 minutes.
