The atmosphere over north Georgia was unstable and very moist due to precipitable water values approaching two inches. Slow moving thunderstorms with heavy rain trained over the same portion of Jackson County in the early evening. Rainfall amounts of 3 to 4 inches occurred in 90 minutes. This caused localized flash flooding and washout or erosion damage to a few roads in the south portion of the county. A few thunderstorms produced isolated reports of wind damage as well.
