A warm and humid air mass was in place across northwest Illinois on August 28, 2016. Scattered showers and thunderstorms developed during the afternoon and continued into the evening hours in the vicinity of stationary front that along Interstate 80. These showers and thunderstorms were nearly stationary and produced heavy rainfall. This rain caused some flash flooding in Henry and Whiteside Counties. The places that did receive rainfall reported 1 to 3 inches.
