Low pressure rapidly intensified as it moved through the Great Lakes region on October 18th. This allowed southeasterly winds to develop over the North Atlantic region, leading to building, long period waves. This coastal flood event coincided with the highest astronomical tide of the month. Minor flooding occurred along Granite Point Road in Biddeford and the local wharf streets in Portland. In Scarborough, waters surrounded the Clam Bake restaurant.
