Short lines of thunderstorms developed ahead of a cold front that extended from the Chicago area southwest across the eastern Ozark Mountains of south central Missouri. Filtered sunshine allowed some destabilization to occur ahead of developing thunderstorms over southeast Missouri. Organized storm structures evolved in an environment of moderate instability and rather strong deep-layer wind shear. Isolated strong wind gusts and dime to nickel-size hail accompanied small bowing lines of storms.
