A strong and moist southeasterly upslope flow developed across the western Carolinas in advance of a strong cold front during the 11th and persisted until the front passed through the area on the 12th. Numerous rain showers developing and moving over the North Carolina Blue Ridge resulted in storm total rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches across portions of Transylvania County, resulting in minor flooding.
