Several rounds of widespread heavy rainfall tracked northeast across southern Illinois. These rounds of heavy rain produced localized flooding of roads. In the wake of a surface cold front, a persistent southwest flow of moist air aloft generated multiple rounds of widespread rain. The two-day rainfall at the Carbondale co-operative observer site was 2.66 inches for the 21st and 22nd.
