Flood — McCracken, KY

Several rounds of widespread heavy rainfall tracked northeast across western Kentucky. These rounds of heavy rain produced localized flooding of roads, along with longer-term flooding along creeks and tributaries of the Ohio River. In the wake of a surface cold front, a persistent southwest flow of moist air aloft generated multiple rounds of widespread rain. A shortwave trough and closed low reached the Quad State from the northwest during the morning of the 4th. The arrival of the shortwave preceded peak heating by several hours, limiting convective potential. Shear was very weak and instability limited.
