Heavy rainfall developed across the area on the morning of April 16th ahead of a slow moving warm front. This rain developed in an environment with precipitable water values greater than 1.25 inches, well above normal for mid April. Rainfall totals generally ranged from 2.0 to 4.0 inches across southern Connecticut, with the majority of the rain falling in a 3-4 hour period. This resulted in flash flooding across the region.
