Scattered thunderstorms developed north of a closed mid-level low over northern Mississippi and western Tennessee. During the warmest and most unstable time of day, one of the storms produced large hail. Surface-based capes peaked around 2,000 j/kg as the storms arrived. Many of the storms produced locally heavy rain, which caused several flooding problems.
