A very moist southerly flow resulted in development of numerous heavy rain showers and some thunderstorms that repeatedly developed along the southern escarpment of the Blue Ridge and moved north into the mountains of southwest North Carolina throughout late evening of the 26th and the early morning hours of the 27th. This resulted in localized rainfall amounts as high as 4 inches which led to isolated flash flooding.
