Warm and humid conditions were in place across western Pennsylvania on June 13th behind a warm front. After morning showers departed, instability was able to build during the afternoon hours. A strong shortwave was able to generate high levels of deep layer shear, which allowed for the development of thunderstorms during the afternoon and early evening, a few of which became severe.
