Flash Flood — Sheridan, KS

Scattered thunderstorms developed along a west to east weak cold front during the afternoon. Only a few storms were responsible for the hail reports. The largest hail size reported was hen egg in Colby. Prolonged heavy rainfall over Selden caused flooding to occur over part of Highway 83. The highest wind gust reported occurred southeast of Sharon Springs.

Intense supercell thunderstorms moved north across the region during the afternoon and evening hours producing 10 tornadoes, including an F4 tornado just SW of Quinter. Extremely heavy rainfall also resulted in flooding in many areas.

During the late afternoon and through the evening a severe thunderstorm moved into Northwest Kansas. The storm had a history of producing hail up to baseball size, which continued into Kansas. The storm continued producing hail up to baseball size as it approached Goodland.
