Thunderstorms with very heavy rain developed over portions of the greater Phoenix metropolitan area during the late evening hours on August 10th; the storms and heavy rain persisted into the morning hours on August 11th. Peak rain rates with the stronger storms were in excess of one inch per hour and this led to an episode of early morning flash flooding in the Paradise Valley and Scottsdale communities.
