A round of strong to severe thunderstorms brought excessive rainfall rates to portions of central Illinois during the evening of June 10th. Another round of thunderstorms developed along and north of a stationary frontal boundary during the pre-dawn hours of June 11th. Excessive rainfall rates produced flooding of viaducts and low-lying spots in Springfield, with a few cars becoming stranded in the high water.
