A strong cold front was dropping south through the region on the morning of July 17th. Numerous severe thunderstorms developed ahead of the front over southern New Hampshire. Precipitable water values approaching 2 inches over the region contributed to heavy rainfall with these storms. Two to 4 inches of rain fell in the Manchester area in 3 hours resulting in flash flooding.
