An atmospheric trough moved over Massachusetts on the 4th, tapping high amounts of moisture in the air to cause heavy showers that resulted in flooding. Up to 6.5 inches of rain fell on Cape Cod, and 1 to 3 inches across the rest of Massachusetts. A few thunderstorms also moved across the state, causing wind damage.
