August 19-20���a rapidly deepening low pressure system tracked from south central Kansas to southwest Iowa. Unseasonably strong wind shear led to the development of severe storms with heavy rainfall across southeast Kansas and southwest Missouri during the late afternoon and evening hours of the 19th .
