An upper level high centered over Alabama and Georgia stretched from the east coast, south over Florida, to the north over southern Indiana, and back over all but the panhandle of Texas. Meanwhile, a cold front that bowed from Chicago to Wichita, Kansas dropped southeast towards the CWA. As the front reached the Ohio River, it brought a line of showers and thunderstorms.
