Nighttime storms with heavy downpours formed across portions of the Blue Ridge and foothills including the Roanoke metro area. Several reports of flash flooding in and around Roanoke were received. Radar estimated up to 2 to 3 inches fell in just a few hours in parts of Roanoke City and adjacent parts of Roanoke County. These estimates were closely verified by rainfall reports at 12z (0700 AM local time) on the 12th that included 2.86 inches at Roanoke 5.5 SW CCR (VA-RN-3), 2.82 inches at Hidden
