A warm front lifted north into Westcentral and the southern sections of Northcentral Louisiana during the morning hours of January 3rd, ahead of an upper level low pressure system over Northwest and Northcentral Texas. This low tapped the subtropical jet, which resulted in ample moisture streaming northeast from the Eastern Pacific Ocean across Texas and into the Lower Mississippi Valley.
