A southern stream storm system taking nearly the same track as a previous system on December 26-27 brought widespread rainfall amounts of over an inch from the evening of the 30th to the late morning of the 31st. Due to saturated soil conditions before this round of rain, additional flooding of low water crossings occurred, mainly north and east of Springfield.
