Flood — Augusta, VA

Dec 21, 2018

A potent longwave trough approached the area from the west on the 20th. Warm advection and strong moisture transport ahead of the mid-upper level wave led to a prolonged period of rainfall through the day as surface low pressure tracked from the FL Panhandle to WV by evening. Rainfall totals on the order of 1-2 inches led to instances of flooding across portions of Augusta, Nelson and Albemarle Counties in VA.
