Multiple thunderstorms developed along and ahead of a cold front in Missouri during the late afternoon. Isolated hail and strong winds accompanied a couple of the storms as they moved east into southern Illinois. Mostly unidirectional wind shear through the vertical profile yielded around 40 to 50 knots of effective bulk shear.
