The low pressure system which produced the precipitation across much of the area on May 9 and 10 continued to drop southward off the southern California coast on May 11. Wrap around moisture from this system spread westward into Kern County during the afternoon on May 11 producing another round of afternoon thunderstorms. One slow moving cell produced nearly three quarters of an inch of rainfall in 15 minutes at a station between Tehachapi and Mojave. Runoff from this storm resulted in a mudslid
