Snowmelt and rainfall flooding from late March and April along with above normal May rainfall resulted in continued flooding on the Big Sioux River near Castlewood. The Big Sioux River did fall below flood stage for a short period of time from May 15th to the 18th. The flooding then continued into June. The river reached its highest stage in late March at 12.6 feet where flood stage is 9 feet.
