Clusters of thunderstorms repeatedly moved over the same areas, causing isolated minor flooding problems. The storms increased in response to daytime heating of a very moist air mass. A weak low pressure system lifted slowly up the Tennessee River Valley, bringing tropical moisture for locally heavy rainfall.
